about

Arriving this month is Oblivion, the latest EP from producer Joro Dudovski. Dudovski debuted on the label this January with ‘Kepler’s Shell’, a drum & bass track with monstrous sound design, and returns to Forest Biz for his debut EP with the imprint. Oblivion builds upon the sounds heard on ‘Kepler’s Shell’, showcasing an artist who dares to push the boundaries of the drum & bass format. Oblivion is a journey into the noisier realms of electronic music.

Opening track ‘We All Have Fears’ is a striking composition defined by distorted bass patterns and eerie sound design. Hinging on a delicate balancing act of loud and quiet dynamics, the sound design rumbles with quiet tension and the bass patterns erupt, forming and reforming into a pointed assault on the speakers.

‘The Nocturnal Dance’, ‘Confession’, and ‘She Escaped the Sun’ make up the body of Oblivion. Defined by bouldering percussion and cavernous basslines, these tracks use the rhythms of drum & bass as their starting point, stretching the formula into the darkest corners and most experimental territories.

Closing track ‘Liquefy’ changes course. The foreboding sonics and heavy percussion of the previous tracks are still present, but the bass lines are thick-bodied, hitting the ear and mutating into a labyrinthine network of sound that feels designed to leave a lasting impression.
