Stateside star in the making Horge returns to Forest Biz this August with an array of mind-bending drum and bass cuts comprising the Dissension EP.

Hailing from San Diego, CA, the hotly tipped record producer – born Jorge Montoya – has attracted a loyal following with his unique brand of fidgety, bass-heavy creations, with many of his songs straddling multiple genres to make for inimitable results.

The new project doubles up as Horge’s official debut EP on Forest Biz, although it comes in the wake of a flurry of well-received appearances on the label’s past compilations—including the neuro belter “Time Jump”, which cropped up on Nocturna #1, and his blissful, oscillating reimagination of Avum and Cecelia’s “The One”, first heard on last year’s Forest 5ive Part 2 EP.

Dissension picks up where these contributions left off, its title track reeling listeners in with a punchy halftime combination of monstrous contortions and blistering bassweight. The ensuing “Stealth Mode” lives up to its name, commencing with trilled impacts and metallic, modulated synths before breaking into expertly executed techstep crescendos marked by grainy basslines and dogged cymbals.

“Exile”, with its choral passages and drawn-out rumbles, is a cinematic affair, building up to snarling climaxes, while “Nothing Is Sacred (D&B Mix)” – his third incarnation of a classic from the vaults – reworks the track into a luscious roller, culminating in warped drops wherein a whole range of throbbing sounds weave in and out of the mix. Wrapping up the EP is “Once Upon A Time”, which heavily samples a UK post-dubstep classic, transforming it into a skittering, ambient breaks number primed for the dance.
